Vivekananda
Rock Memorial: Built in 1970. This memorial is dedicated to Swami Vivekananda
the greatest social reformer and saint modem India has produced. Swamy Vivekananda
was supposed to have meditated on the rock where the memorial stands today at
the end of 1892before his departure for Chicago to participate iln the World
Religious' Conference iln 1893. A meditation hall is also attached with the
memorial. Ferry service is available to reach the memoril. Timings: 8a.m.to
4 p.m.
Kumari Amman Temple: is dedicated to Parvathi as Devi Kany the virgin
goddess who did penance to obtain the hand of Lord \Siva Darshan Timings: 4.00a.m.to
12.00 Noon, 4.00 p.m. to 9.00p.m.
Guganathaswamy Temple: This 1000 year old temple ils said to have is
said to have been built by Raja Rajha Chola.
Gandhi Memorial: On Mahatma's birthday (october-2nd) the Sun's rays fall
on the spot where his ashes were placesd before imlmersion. Timings: 7.00 a.m.
to 12.00 Noon 3.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.
